How to Refer

Who is eligible?

For all streams of training all clients must be:

  • of working age (15 to 64 years of age);
  • registered as jobseekers with Centrelink and not a full-time student; and
  • have no potential barriers to successful participation in the Program (based on available information gained from the client)

Clients must also satisfy eligibility criteria relating to income support and visa status.
Centrelink or Job Network will check these additional eligibility requirements

What to look for when referring clients

  • Help needed when filling out forms
  • Difficultly calculating change or using timetables
  • Difficulties using a street directory
  • Inability to find and interpret information
  • Inability to write a short report or letter
  • Poor handwriting
  • Lack of confidence in reading, writing or math
  • Early school leaver
  • Difficulties with spoken or written English

How do jobseekers access this program?

Clients access this program through Centrelink and Job Network Members
Anyone who is eligible and keen to improve their skills can make an appointment for an assessment of their specific learning needs
Assessments are informal interviews, not tests
Appointments for assessments can be made by contacting your nearest Learning for Employment site

When making a referral, please provide the following client information:

  • Name
  • Jobseeker Number
  • Address and Phone Number
  • Date of Birth
